Hoth Hike

READ EVERYTHING IN THIS POST CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING UP!

Time: Saturday 1. May.
Duration: From 6 – 9 hours (Depending on weather)
Price: About NOK 400,- (This is the price on their web site, I will not take payment until it’s settled.)
Guides: Jyklagutane

When at Finse we’re planning a trip up to the glacier where Empire Strikes Back was filmed.
We’re hoping to see most of the places, but that will depend on the weather and conditions on the mountain. This is a trip I know most of you will be looking forward to, since it will mean retrace the steps as the cast and crew stepped 30 years ago.

This will be a guided mountain hike, and that means we need to take precautions so we’ll be safe and enjoy the scenery. Because of this we need a set of requirements to join.

You need:
1. Normal, healthy physique.
You need to be able to walk for several hours, but at a slow, leisurely pace.
If necessary, we’ll be divided into two groups with a guide each, one group for those with some experience and one for those without.

2. Warm winter clothes
May might be late spring, but in the mountains it’s still winter.
We’re high up in the mountain so there are chances of blizzards
More detailed packing list will follow.

3. Remember a LARGE lunch from the hotel breakfast.
To maintain energy in the mountains it’s important that you have the common sense to pack a hearty lunch and eat it when you need energy. We’ll have plenty of small stops so you can eat and drink.
Warm drinks like coffee and hot chocolate are important to help you keep warm and snugly, but you also need plenty of water so you won’t get dehydrated.

We’ll move across the mountain on either skis or snowshoes. The latter is most likely, since this requires less experience.

If you have no experience with hikes like this, plese let us know, so you’ll be pplaced in the correct group.

Sign up people and let’s head out.
